David Baker Jazz Composition Award

I am honored and humbled to announce that the BMI Foundation has awarded me with the first David N. Baker Jazz Composition Scholarship! This award is in memory of David Baker, the legendary composer and professor at my alma mater Indiana University.

I was given this award at IU’s annual Jazz Celebration in recognition of all of my efforts in composition over the past year, in particular my Suite for Jazz Ensemble (which you can listen to here on my site). The IU Student/Faculty Big Band performed a revised version of Blues, the finale from the suiteat the event.

Again, I am tremendously happy to have received the David N. Baker Jazz Composition Scholarship. I graciously thank the BMI Foundation, Robbin Ahrold, all my mentors, and my family for their ongoing support.
